Codex native themes vs Dream Skin

Choose the right customization layer before downloading or running anything.

01

Use native appearance for color and type

Codex built-in settings are the simpler, lower-risk path when background, foreground, accent, font, and code colors are enough.

02

Use Dream Skin for immersive artwork

A third-party skin adds background imagery and translucent layers that built-in appearance controls may not provide.

03

Do not mix the file formats

A visual recipe for an immersive skin is not automatically a Codex App theme or a Codex CLI TextMate theme.

04

Compare the trust boundary

Native appearance stays inside the official application. Dream Skin runs reviewed local code and opens a debugging connection.

05

Choose reversibility over spectacle

Whatever path you choose, test readability across Home, Task, Diff, warnings, menus, and the composer, then practice restoring it.
